Treadmill Stress Test
Midwest Heart cardiologists use the stress test to determine a patient’s potential for having blocked arteries. While a patient is exercising on the treadmill, an electrocardiogram (ECG) records the patient’s rhythm activity. Abnormal changes in the heart function or rhythm may appear during exercise, which may have not been seen on the ECG while the patient was at rest. The patient is supervised by a trained professional who monitors blood pressures, heart rate and rhythm.
