Tilt Table 

Your physician may order an upright tilt table test for many reasons including syncope(passing out), temporary loss or consciousness, lightheadedness or near syncope (almost passing out). The results of this test will assist the physician in managing your condition and perhaps preventing these types of episodes from recurring.

The test begins by lying flat on the tilt table for 20 minutes. Once the 20 minute period is over the physician places the patient in an upright position for 20 minutes. The change in position may precipitate symptoms that the patient has had previously, such as the feeling of passing out. Measurements of the patient’s heart rate and rhythm, blood pressure and oxygen levels are monitored very closely during the procedure.
