Ultrafast CT Scan

The physicians of Midwest Heart Specialists use a leading edge technology called Electron-beam CT to detect calcium deposits in the coronary arteries. Calcium deposits signify atherosclerotic build-up in the arteries. The CT scanner records a series of detailed images of the blood vessels in your heart very quickly and accurately. The test is fast, typically just 10 minutes and completely painless. It is non-invasive, which means there are no injections, dyes, or needles. This very unique exam allows our physicians to detect calcium in the coronary arteries, before significant damage to a patient’s heart has occurred so that appropriate preventative treatment maybe started.
