USE

 

 

For the treatment of Pulmonary Hypertension

 

 

ACTION

 

Helps lower the pressure in the pulmonary arteries (the blood vessels within the lungs) by dilating those vessels.

SIDE EFFECTS

 

 

Every drug is capable of producing side effects. Most patients experience no or minor side effects. Possible side effects include:your lungs several times per day as directed by your doctor.

 

 

- low blood pressure (hypotension)

 

- facial flushing (reddening of face)

 

- increased cough

 

- headaches

 

- nausea

 

- throat irritation and pain

 

- fainting (syncope)

 

GUIDELINES FOR TAKING THIS MEDICATION

 

- Usually breathed (inhaled) into your lunch with the help of a Tyvaso inhalation system during waking hours. It will take about 5 minutes to prepare the Tyvaso  inhalation system at the beginning of each day(ampules of medication should not be swallowed by mouth).  

 

- Take Tyvaso exactly as directed by your healthcare provider usually 4 times per day about 4 hours apart.

 

- One treatment session usually takes about 2 to 3 minutes

 

- Do not change your dose without talking with your doctor. If you miss a treatment or your treatment is interrupted, resume therapy as soon as possible.

 

- Women who are of child-bearing age should use effective birth control while receiving treatment.

 

- Tyvaso should not be allowed to come into contact with the skin or eyes.

 

- Tyvaso has the potential to increase the risk of bleeding especially if taken with anticoagulants, also called "blood thinners". Check with your healthcare providers and tell them about all the medications you are taking.
