Use                  Treat acute coronary syndrome

Treat heart attack prevention

Treat blood clot prevention after angioplasty/coronary artery bypass surgery

                        Treat fever

                        Treat headaches

                        Treat muscle/joint/arthritic pain

 

Action             Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation and blood clot formation. It also exhibits antipyretic (fever control) and anti-inflammatory, and analgesic (pain control) effects.

 

Possible Side Effects

 

Every drug is capable of producing side effects.  Most patients experience no, or minor, side effects.  Possible side effects:

·         Common: Upset stomach, heartburn, rash

·         Rare: Gastrointestinal bleeding, peptic ulcer

Guidelines for Taking This Medication

 

·         May be taken with food to reduce stomach irritation

 

·         Take your medication at the same time each day

 

·         If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember; do not take it if it is almost time for the next dose

 

·         Do not stop this medication, unless directed by your doctor or nurse

 

·         Report any unusual bruising or bleeding to your doctor or nurse
