Use             Treat acute coronary syndrome

Treat heart attack prevention

Treat blood clot prevention after angioplasty/coronary artery bypass surgery

                   Treat fever

                   Treat headaches

                   Treat muscle/joint/arthritic pain

 

Action        Aspirin inhibits platelet aggregation and blood clot formation. It also exhibits antipyretic (fever control) and anti-inflammatory, and analgesic (pain control) effects.

 

Possible side effects:

Every drug is capable of producing side effects.  Most patients experience no, or minor, side effects. 

·Common: Upset stomach, heartburn, rash

·Rare: Gastrointestinal bleeding, peptic ulcer

Guidelines for Taking This Medication

·May be taken with food to reduce stomach irritation

·Take your medication at the same time each day

·If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember; do not take it if it is almost time for the next dose

·Do not stop this medication, unless directed by your doctor or nurse

·Report any unusual bruising or bleeding to your doctor or nurse
