Use:   Treat chronic chest pain (angina), which is a result of not enough blood flow to the heart.

Action: Has antianginal effects and anti-ischemic effects.  The exact mechanism is not known.

Do Not Take Ranexa if:
- You have a heart problem called QT prolongation
- Have or had liver problems
- Have severe kidney impairment
- Are taking medicines that also cause QT prolongation
       - Antiarrhythmic medicines, which include quinidine, dofetilide (Tikosyn), sotalol (Betapace)
       - Erythromycin
       - Some antipsychotic medicines
- Are taking medicines or foods than can interact with Ranexa
       - Antifungal medicines
       - Diltiazem (Cardizem, Dilacor, Tiazac)
       - Verapamil (Calan, Verelan, Covera HS)
       - Some antibiotics
       - Grapefruit juice or grapefruit containing products

Possible Side Effects
 Every drug is capable of producing side effects.  Most patients experience no, or minor, side effects.  Possible side effects:
• Common:  Headache, constipation, nausea
• Major:  Heart rhythm problem known as QT prolongation, dizziness and lightheadedness

Guidelines for Taking This Medication
- May be taken without regard to food
- Swallow Ranexa whole; do not crush, break or chew the tablet
- If a dose is missed, wait until the next scheduled dose and get back on schedule
- Do not take more than your usual dose at any time, even if you have missed doses
- Headache is usually temporary and subsides once you adjust to the medication; notify your doctor or nurse if you have a persistent headache
