Possible Side Effects
The frequency and severity of possible side effects are usually related to dose and duration of therapy.
· Halos around lights, blurred vision, dry eyes, vision changes
· Loss of appetite, nausea, constipation, bitter taste in mouth
· Slowing of heart beat
· Headache, weakness, numbness or tingling in fingers and toes, tremors
· Disturbances of thyroid, lung and liver function
Guidelines for Taking This Medication
· Take with food
· Take your medication at the same time each day
· If a dose is missed, take it as soon as you remember; do not take it if it is almost time for the next dose
· Do not stop this medication, unless directed by your doctor or nurse
· Wear sunscreen and protective clothing when going out in sunlight. Sunburn can occur even through window glass or thin clothing. Your skin can continue to be sensitive to sunlight for several months after amiodarone has been stopped
· Dosage of other medications may need to be adjusted when taking amiodarone.
· Notify your doctor or nurse promptly if you experience shortness of breath, cough, painful breathing, dizziness or fainting
· Contact your doctor or nurse before taking any new prescription or over-the-counter medications
· Keep regular appointments with our doctor; this medication needs to be monitored closely

· Blood test to monitor thyroid and liver function
· Chest x-ray to monitor lung function· Eye exams per ophthalmologist yearly or per recommendation of opthalmologist
